On March 20th, 1919, the Regiment was selected as one of the three infantry units to form the Permanent Active Militia or Permanent Force. It is here that the Regiment's close relationship with Winnipeg was truly formed. The Regimental Headquarters, and A and D Companies were located at Fort Osborne Barracks, overlooking the Assiniboine River in April, 1920.
Training at Osborne Barracks in the inter-war years consisted of many activities including compulsory boxing matches and unarmed combat training lessons. Matches were often held in the evening and the public were usually invited as guests.
Eventually, the Princess Patricia's were relocated to Tuxedo and the Kapyong Barracks to make way for construction of the Manitoba Legislature.
Today, Osborne Village is a charming neighbourhood filled with character and unique shops. It's the city's most densely populated neighbourhood and arguably the most vibrant.
