Ostrov

- For other uses of "", see ) is a town in Pskov Oblast, Russia. It is located on the Velikaya River, 55 km south of Pskov. Population: 25,078 (2002 Census); 27,000 (1974).
Ostrov was founded as a fortress in 1342. It had been an important military outpost throughout 15-16 centuries. It received town status in 1777.
