Otago are in Pool B for the first round of the 2006 Air New Zealand Cup and start their campaign against Counties Manukau on the 29 July. Otago has a challenge for the Ranfurly Shield against holders Canterbury on the 2 September. Otago has 3 pre-season games before the start of the Air New Zealand Cup against North Otago, North Harbour and Southland.
