Tacitus
A data matrix orb that is believed to contain the secrets to tiberium, among other things. This orb switched hands many times before ultimatly ending up in GDI arms. The game notes that only Tratos can translate the device. It is speculated that the device is of Scrin origin, but that remains unconfirmed. It contains a vast quantity of data pertaining to Tiberium.Translation
- Tratos, with the help of Kane's AI CABAL, was the first to translate it, with Kane using the knowledge to assist with the creation of Tiberium based technologies.
- GDI's Dr. Boudreau and her team were eventually able to translate it at the end of Firestorm (with all the pieces it translated itself), when they discovered and recovered, with CABAL's help, a second segment, which was formerly unknown to them.
Bonus Crates
Bonus crates are crates that appear on the various maps of the Command & Conquer Universe and are acquired/activated by moving a unit to the square on which the crate is contained. These crates usually contain powerups that are given to the player who reaches the crate first. The exact reward found in each crate differs, but they are known for giving bonus cash to a player and for spontaneously creating infantry and armoured units for the player to use.Occasionally, Bonus crates will not contain an upgrade, but an explosive or some other harmful substance. Bonus Crates have been known to explode on contact, destroying units in a 3x3 radius and may somtimes release tiberium gas.
