Outbreeding
Encyclopedia : O : OU : OUT : Outbreeding
Oubreeding is just one of few applications of genetics to agriculture. The community uses its knowledge of genetics to its advantage by improving crops and stock processes like this. Outbreeding involve increasing the frequency of certain alleles in the gene pool by crossing two different breeds of closely related hybrids to produce offspring that are stronger and better adapted to the local environment. For example, fat lambs are produced in Australia by this methid. Selective breeding and inbreeding are two other genetic applications.
