Płońsk ([['pwɔɲsk]][Media help?]·[i]; Yiddish: ) is a town in north-central Poland with 22,700 inhabitants (1995). Situated in the Masovian Voivodship (since 1999), previously in Ciechanów Voivodship (1975-1998). It is home to a yearly open theatre festival (held in the summer). It is also notable as a birthplace of David Ben-Gurion, the first Prime Minister of Israel, who was born in Płońsk on October 16, 1886.
