Encyclopedia : P : PI : PIG : PIG (elections)
PIG is an electoral technique commonly employed in the United Kingdom, consisting of three steps:
- Persuade — in which the organisation concerned convinces the public to support them—usually a political party attempting to solicit votes.
- Identify — this consists primarily of canvassing—identifying one's supporters, preferably individually. It may also consist of market segmentation.
- Get out the vote — commonly known as GOTV, this consists of polling day activity—calling on identified electors to vote.
