Pavle "Paja" Jovanović (Serbian Cyrillic: Павле "Паја" Јовановић)(1859-1957) is one of the most famous Serbian realist painters. He was born in Vršac, where he finished primary and high-school. He studied at the academy in Vienna like Uroš Predić. His historical paintings are Serbian migrations, Crowning of Car Dušan, Takovo Uprising, Borba Petlova, "Kićenje neveste", "Čas mačevanja" and Kosovo maiden. He also painted many famous portraits and a number of icons in the church in Vršac.
