Pakwach

Pakwach is a town in north-western Uganda.

Railways

It is the country’s railhead on the White Nile.

The next port on the White Nile is Juba in southern Sudan

In June 2006, Chinese assistance was promised to built a railway extension from Pakwach to Juba.

Juba is still about 600km south of the Sudan Railways southernmost station at Wåw.

Should the Ugandan and Sudanese railways ever meet, there will be a break of gauge problem which can be reduced by building the new tracks with gauge convertible sleepers.
