Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) Main Campus is located in Intramuros, Manila.

The main campus houses majority of the offices and facilities of the whole PLM Education System. In addition, it is composed of twelve (12) different undegraduate schools, two (2) professional schools, six (6) graduate schools, a score of research centers, auxiliary divisions, and affiliate divisions.

Several thousand faculty serve a diverse student body of different ages in different academic divisions, from undegraduate to postgraduate levels.

Academic divisions

Undegraduate schools

The Undegraduate schools, which are housed in Gusaling Arsenio Lacson, Gusaling Katipunan, and Gusaling Antonio Villegas and its annex, offer different undegraduate degree programs in the arts and sciences.

During the first year of college work, students at the Undegraduate schools receive a general education program from the College of Liberal Arts. On April 15, 2005, the 68-unit PLM General Education (GE) Program was revised. It consists of English, Filipino, Social Sciences and Humanities, Philosophy and Ethics, Sciences, Mathematics, and Personal Financial Management.

The students are also required to attend four Physical Education classes, and a choice from among Reserved Officers Training Corps (ROTC) or civil welfare training service in the Department of Military Science & Tactics and the National Service Training Corps. The PLM ROTC has been hailed by National Capital Region Regional Community Defense Group as the best ROTC unit in the National Capital Region (NCR) for a few years now.

The student's academic performance in the general education program is the basis for his acceptance to the specific college where the degree is offered.

The College of Accountancy and Economics were once two (2) individual departments under the former College of Business and Public Administration. However, on January 31, 2003, by virtue of the Board Resolution No. 2544, the departments were united into what eventually became the College of Accountancy and Economics.

It offers Bachelor of Science degrees in Accountancy and in Economics.

The College of Architecture and Urban Planning used to be part of the College of Engineering and Technology until it was granted approval to function as a separate college on June 2001, with Architect Wilfredo Gacutan as its Dean, and Architect Gil Evasco as Secretary. It assists and cooperates with the city government in terms of planning and designing some open spaces in Manila.

It offers Bachelor of Science degrees in Architecture and in Urban Planning & Development

The College of Engineering and Technology was established on July 01, 1969. It originally had two main divisions namely, the Division of Engineering and Technology, which covered the Department of Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Sanitary, Chemical, Naval, and Industrial Engineering; and the Division of Technical and Vocational Education, which covered the Department of Electronics, Wood Working, Metal Works, Automotive Works, Ceramics, Graphical Arts, Teacher Education in Arts and Trades. Obtaining a degree in this College, then, required the students to finish a six-year ladderized program which was later reduced to a five-year scheme during the term of PLM President Consuelo S. Blanco who had felt the imperative need of the Engineering graduates to compromise the country’s labor pool.

In the early 1990s, it had seven (7) departments namely, the Department of Chemical Engineering, the Department of Civil Engineering, the Department of Computer Engineering, the Department of Computer Studies, the Department of Electrical and Electronics & Communications Engineering, the Department of Engineering Science, and the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering. But this number was eventually increased to eight (8) when Architecture was retrenched as a separate department. In 2001, the Department of Architecture was transformed into a college, and the departments were reduced to seven (7).

It offers Bachelor of Science degrees in Chemical Engineering, in Civil Engineering, in Computer Engineering, in Computer Science, in Electrical Engineering, in Electronics & Communications Engineering, in Information Management, in Information Technology, in Industrial Engineering, and in Mechanical Engineering.

In its many years of existence, the College has brought in numerous excellent awards and recognitions to PLM.

In pursuant of the Board Resolution No. 2467, the Departments of Psychology and Social Work, and the former College of Education was placed under one roof on November 04, 2002. The newly formed College of Human Development, under the leadership of its Dean, Dr. Virginia N. Santos, and Secretary, Mrs. Dolores C. Maaliw, is subdivided into six (6) departments, and they include the Department of Behavioral Sciences, the Department of Family Sciences, the Department of Home Economics, the Department of Nutrition, the Department of Social Work, and the Department of Teacher Education.

The College provides leadership, professional development, research and resources to advance education in the tertiary level. It also addresses concerns that affect students, families and society; and, helps students of diverse abilities pursue life-long learning and achievement.

Currently, it offers Bachelor of Science degrees in Secondary Education, majors in Communication Arts (Filipino), in Communication Arts (English), in Social Studies, in Mathematics, in Biological Science, in Physical Science, in Psychology; and, Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work.

The College of Liberal Arts was once part of the former College of Arts and Sciences until the latter was dissected into several other colleges on January 31, 2003. It is further divided into three (3) departments such as, the Department of Humantities, the Department of Languages, and the Department of Social Sciences. Dr. Julieta Hernandez was appointed then appointed as Dean, and Mrs. Evelyn Sebastian as Secretary.

It functions as a service college, and it provides professors, curriculum and subjects for other colleges.

The College of Management and Entrepreneurship used to be part of the former College of Business and Public Administration. On January 31, 2003, with its first Dean, Dr. Honorata Pagaduan, the College formally became independent.

It is further divided into five (5) departments such as, the Department of Banking and Finance, the Department of Management, the Department of Marketing and Advertising, the Department of Public Relations, and the Department of Real Estate and Entrepreneurship.

It offers Bachelor of Science degrees in Business Administration, majors in Management, in Banking and Finance, in Marketing; and, Bachelor of Science degree in Entrepreneurship.

The College of Mass Communication was a mere department under the former College of Arts and Sciences until it was given autonomy to function as a college on January 31, 2003, with Dr. Romeo Barrios as its first Dean.

It offers Bachelor of Mass Communication degree.

In 1967, a study entitled "Manila-Its Needs and Resources" indicated that despite the physical proximity to the people, the 41 Health Centers under the supervision of Manila Health Department had not gained the people’s confidence. In order to resolve this, a community-oriented College of Nursing at PLM was established in the summer of 1969. Ms. Valentina Patacsil was appointed by the then PLM President, Dr. Benito F. Reyes as its Secretary. Under her guidance, 29 students were chosen to be the first nursing scholars of PLM from a long list of prospective nursing students who were enrolled in the 2-year Associate in Arts course.

On July 1, 1969, Mrs. Mary Vita B. Jackson was appointed as its Dean. Four years later, 27 of these scholars passed the board examination given in April 1972, with one of them, in the name of Rosalinda Taguiam Palad, in the 9th place. Since then, more PLM graduates have distinguished themselves not only as placers in the nursing board examinations, but more importantly as effective nurse practitioners in the Philippines and abroad. To date, it has produced 170 board top notchers and board placers.

Students, pursuing the Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing, undergo clinical practice at the Philippine General Hospital, Ospital ng Maynila Medical Center, and other tertiary level health agencies in Metro Manila. They also undergo clinical exposure and immersion program in selected urban and rural community settings.

The College of Physical Education, Recreation and Sports was established on June 2001, with Dr. Priscilla Miñas as its Dean, and Mr. Ben Calma as Secretary. It started with two blocks of first year students enrolled in Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education.

It operates in the Rajah Solayman Gymnasium.

The College of Physical Therapy is one of the top two schools of physical therapy in the Philippines. It offers Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy.

College of Science was once part of the former College of Arts and Sciences until it separated on January 31, 2003. Prof. Antoniño Santos was then appointed as its Dean, and Mrs. Corazon Bumanglag as Secretary.

It has five (5) existing departments, and they include the Department of Biological Sciences, the Department of Chemistry, the Department of Mathematics, the Department of Natural Sciences, and the Department of Physics.

It offers Bachelor of Science degrees in Biology, in Chemistry, and, in Mathematics, minor in Computer Science.

The College of Tourism, Hotel and Travel Industry Management was conceived on June 2001. It was temporarily housed under the former College of Arts and Sciences. The students of Bachelor of Science degree in Tourism, Hotel & Travel Industry Management have their practicum in the hotels in and around the district of Intramuros.

Professional schools

The College of Law is located in Gusaling Katipunan. It offers Bachelor's degree in Laws. In 2005, it attained its highest recorded passing rate of approximately 88% in the bar examinations.

The College of Medicine is situated in Gusaling Ramon Bagatsing. It was established in 1983, with 48 medical scholars. It offers the degree, Doctor of Medicine.

Medical students undergo their clinical practice at Ospital ng Maynila Medical Center and other government hospitals in Metro Manila. It is one of a few medical schools in the Philippines that has achieved a 100-percent passing rate in the medical board examination.

Graduate schools

The Graduate schools, which operate in trimester term, are all housed in Gusaling Don Pepe Atienza.

The Graduate School of Arts, Sciences & Education offers the degree programs such as, Master of Arts in Communication Management; in Psychology, major in Industrial or School Psychology; in Education, in Education, majors in Educational Administration, in Biological Sciences, in Physical Sciences, and in Social Studies; Master of Science in Mathematics Education; and, Doctor of Education, major in Educational Administration.

The Graduate School of Health Sciences offers two degree programs such as, Master's degrees in Nursing, and in Community Health Services Program.

The Graduate School of Engineering offers Master's Degree in Engineering, majors in Structural Engineering, in Manufacturing Engineering, in Computer Engineering, in Construction Management, and in Systems Management; and Master's Degree in Engineering Management, major in Manufacturing Management.

The Graduate School of Law was launched on July 07, 2004 in Manila Hotel, with Atty. Ernesto L. Pineda as its Dean. It is open to qualified lawyers, whether in the private service or in the government. It offers Master's degree in Law, and Doctorate degree in Civil Law. Both programs cover emphases on major concerns of private, public and remedial laws.

The Graduate School of Management offers Bachelor's degrees in Industrial Management-Managers Program and in Business Management-Master of Business Administration (BBM-MBA); Master's degree in Business Administration and in Business Administration for Top Executives Program; and, Doctorate degree in Business Administration.

In pursuant of the Board Resolution No. 2522, President Ramon Magsaysay School of Public Governance was established on September 27, 2002 in honor of the late President's legacy of public service based on high ethical standards and advocacy of social justice. The School is headed by a dean, and has a Council of Advisors and a Board of Visitors. With coordination with the Ramon Magsaysay Foundation, the School makes the public lecture series of Ramon Magsaysay awardees a tradition at PLM.

It offers Master's degrees in Government Management and in Government Management-Executive Special Program; and, Doctorate degree in Public Management.

Research divisions

Research divisions contribute in various researches and studies funded by PLM, the government, or the private sector.

Auxiliary divisions

Auxiliary divisions facilitate the work of learning, teaching, and social involement among the communities of PLM.

Affiliate divisions

Affiliate divisions are allied institutions which are not formally part of PLM, but support the latter's involvement in some fields.

Student services and divisions

Student services and divisions facilitate the welfare and involvement of PLM students in various activities and causes.

Student and employee organizations

There are student and employee organizations that cater to specific communities in PLM. Unlisted organizations are in the process of being accredited.
