Panning may refer to:
Video and cinema:
- Panning (camera), the panning of a film or video camera, or scanning of a subject horizontally on video or a display device.
- pan and scan, technique for reproducing wide-screen films on narrow TV screens.
- panning (antenna systems), In antenna systems, successively changing the azimuth of a beam of radio-frequency energy over the elements of a given horizontal region, or the corresponding process in reception. (Source: Federal Standard 1037C)
- panning (audio), panning is the spread of a monaural signal in a stereo or multi-channel sound field.
- Cold panned process, a process by which one adds a coating or shell to a candy item (such as M&Ms or jellybeans).
- Placer mining, panning in the context of gold mining.
