Parvata Kingdom
Encyclopedia : P : PA : PAR : Parvata Kingdom
The kingdom of Parvatas (Mountaineers) could be a separate kingdom or a part of the Himalaya Kingdom. This was a mountainous country in the Himalayas . Parvatas took part in the Kurukshetra War. The wife of Lord Siva, was named Parvati, and could be a native of this kingdom. There is a sage named Parvata a companion of sage Narada. Both of them were international travellers, during pre historic ages, similar to the Chinese travellers like Fa Hian during the period of recorded history. They visited Kingdoms of Ancient India as well as other kingdoms beyond the Himalayas in Central Asia, China and West Asia. The name Parvata (meaning mountain in Sanskrit), was given to the traveller, probably because, the Vedic people saw them coming to them, after crossing the Himalaya mountains.
