Passenger virus
Encyclopedia : P : PA : PAS : Passenger virus
A passenger virus is a virus that simply hitchhikes in the body of a person or infects the body without causing symptoms, illness or disease. It is possible to detect the presence of a passenger virus through antigen or antibody testing.
However, passenger viruses may cause symptoms of disease in individuals whose immune system is compromised. This is the case for victims of AIDS.
