Passion Fish

Passion Fish is a 1992 film which tells the story of a soap opera star, paralyzed in a car accident, who is forced to live with her family and rely upon a series of nurses, forcing each of them to leave her employ until one shows up guaranteed to stay.
The movie was written and directed by John Sayles. It stars Mary McDonnell, Alfre Woodard, Vondie Curtis-Hall, David Strathairn and Leo Burmester.
It was nominated for Academy Awards for Best Actress in a Leading Role (Mary McDonnell) and Best Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen.
