Paul Burke (born 1926) is an American actor mainly known for his lead roles in the television series Naked City and Twelve O'Clock High, in which he played Col. Joe Gallagher
Burke was born in New Orleans and was the son of actor Martin Burke. After his acclaimed performances in Naked City and Twelve O'Clock High, Burke appeared in The Thomas Crown Affair but appeared in numerous TV shows but had few movie roles.
In 1989, Burke and then-New Orleans District Attorney Harry Connick, Sr. were indicted on racketeering charges of aiding and abetting a gambling operation by returning gambling records to an arrested gambler.[link] Burke was also indicted on charges of perjury before the Grand Jury. He and Connick were were acquitted of all charges after a seven week trial.
