History
Tekken - Tekken 2
Paul is a Judo expert and good friend of the Law family. His mixture of kickboxing and judo styles have achieved legendary status, but a seemingly minor complication always arises that prevents him from winning the tournament, as in the case when a traffic jam prevents his confrontation with Kazuya.Tekken 3
In Tekken 3, Paul remained undefeated throughout the entire tournament, and even defeated Ogre. Swelling with pride and feeling victorious, Paul leaves the tournament, thinking that he was the victor. Unknown to Paul however, Ogre morphed into his perfect form: True Ogre, and the Tournament continued in his absence. In the end, Jin Kazama would be the true victor of the 3rd Tournament, having defeated True Ogre and brutally slaying the beast, thus avenging his mother's death. Jin's victory however, was something Paul did not believe, and even tried to claim that he won the tournament. Hardly anyone believed him, and even those who did eventually got sick and tired of his attitude, and therefore turned on him.Tekken 4 - Tekken 5
Gradually, the people's respect for "the world's strongest fighter" declined and his dojo went bankrupt, forcing him to enter the fourth tournament just to survive. His loss to Kuma during Tekken 4, in his mind, begins a rivalry, which he vows to settle in the next tournament.Trivia
- The icon on Paul's outfit is Chinese for "Red".
- While supposedly he fights Judo, Paul's fighting style is more a hard-hitting style of Karate, as he has almost no Judo throws, nor is his game very focused on grappling or countering.
- Paul is one of only 4 characters (Namely Heihachi Mishima , Nina Williams , and Yoshimitsu ) to have appeared in every game in the series, and is a staple character amongst fans.
