Paul Samwell-Smith (born on 8 May, 1943, in Richmond, Surrey) was the founding member and bassist of the 1960s British band, The Yardbirds.
While in The Yardbirds, he produced and engineered almost all of their music, and left in May 1966, because he was the only one taking that aspect seriously.
He went on to become a successful producer, credits including Cat Stevens, Carly Simon and Claire Hamill, as well as producing two of Amazing Blondel's albums for Island Records, and the first and second albums by All About Eve for Mercury.
