Pearson Triton

Encyclopedia : P : PE : PEA : Pearson Triton

The Pearson Triton, also known as Triton, was one of the first production fiberglass sailboats manufactured in the United States.

The Triton was designed by Carl Alberg and produced by Pearson Yachts in Bristol, RI and Aeromarine Plastics in Sausalito, CA.

The Triton was introduced at the 1959 New York National Boat Show and was an immediate sales hit. Over seven hundred examples of this conservative, deep-water 28 foot auxiliary cruising sailboat were fabricated between 1959 and 1967.

Noted single-handed sailor, [James Baldwin], successfully circumnavigated his Triton "Atom" in the 1980s.

While originally constructed over forty years ago, the rugged Triton continues to be a popular sailing craft for many enthusiasts to upgrade and restore.
