Pectus carinatum

Pectus carinatum, also called pigeon chest, is a deformity of the chest characterized by a protrusion of the sternum.
Causes
Possible causes are, among others, Marfan syndrome and scoliosis (a curvature of the spine).Incidence/prevalence
Pectus deformities are common (about 1 in 600 people have a pectus disorder).Pectus carinatum is more rare than pectus excavatum, another pectus disorder, occurring in only about 15% of people with pectus deformities.
It occurs much more commonly in males.
Treatment
It can usually be corrected with surgical procedures.See also
