The Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia awarded the title People's Hero of Yugoslavia (Narodni heroj Jugoslavije) mostly to individuals for valor in combat during World War II. A total of 1307 awards were given in Yugoslavia, between the early 1940s up to 1957.

By social status, there were: All recipients were members of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia, while 800 of them were also members before World War II. The majority of them, 1261, had engaged in the war in 1941; there were 41 heroes from 1942 and five from 1943.
