Peripatetic axiom
Encyclopedia : P : PE : PER : Peripatetic axiom
The Peripatetic axiom is: "Nothing is in the intellect that was not first in the senses." (Latin: "Nihil est in intellectu quod non prius in sensu") Aquinas first penned the quote, but the Peripatetic school of Greek philosophy, which Aristotle established, held the principle, and it forms the basis of Empiricism.
