Peter Gilbert, (born July 31 1983), is a professional footballer who is currently playing for Sheffield Wednesday after joining from Leicester City. He plays at left back.
He joined Leicester in July 2005 from Plymouth Argyle where he had originally signed on loan from Brimingham City at the start of the 2003-04 season. The young fullback soon proved himself to be as reliable as they come. As soon as he settled, he was one of the first names on the team sheet and performed impressively throughout Argyle's Second Division Championship winning season.
He is now a regular left back for the Wales U21s side.
Gilberts departure from Leicester City was well documented in the press at the time and it is rumoured that 'The Chris Makins Ladyboys' were behind the grief stricken full backs failed suicide attempt shortly following his arrival at the Walkers Stadium. The allegations though were later proved inaccurate. The ladyboys have so far failed to comment on the subject but were quick to defend the actions of ex - Leicester City legend Chris makin when asked about his fiery relationship with Dion Dublin and later Ashley Underwood.
