Peter Kenen

Peter B. Kenen (b. November 30, 1932) is an American economist born in Cleveland, Ohio. He graduated in 1954 summa cum laude from Columbia University and later received his master's degree from Harvard University and later researched at the London School of Economics. He is currently Walker Professor of Economics at Princeton University.

Kenen is most notable for his production diversification criterion for optimum currency areas (OCA). He added this criterion because in areas with production diversification asymmetric shocks are less likely to disseminate to the whole area.
