Peter Potamus and his Magic Flying Balloon was a show created by Hanna-Barbera during the early 1960s, featuring Peter Potamus the hippopotamus and his sidekick, So-So the monkey. Peter was big, purple, and friendly, and was voiced by Daws Butler, imitating comedian Joe E. Brown. Episodes generally consisted of Peter and So-So exploring the world in his time-traveling hot air balloon. When faced with a certain situation, Peter uses his Hippo Hurricane Holler technique to blow away his opponents.
Peter Potamus and his Magic Flying Balloon debuted on September 16, 1964, as a syndicated series. It was divided into three segments: one of Peter Potamus, one of Breezly & Sneezly, and one of Yippee, Yappee & Yahooey.
His teenager form appeared in Yo Yogi where he was played by Frank Welker.
His old show can occasionally be seen on the TV channel Boomerang.
He later became a recurring character on the parody show , where he is voiced by Chris Edgerly. In it, he is a sexually charged hippo working in the firm with Harvey Birdman. He has the trademark phrase "Did you get that thing I sent you?".
