right Peterson's is an American test preparation and educational publishing company that publishes materials designed to prepare students to pass high school and college entrance exams. They offer admissions, financial aid, and career planning services to help students, parents, and educators find the solutions they need to achieve their education and career goals. It is a subdivision of The Thomson Corporation.

Test Prep Offerings

Peterson's also offers a unique brand of online college entrance exam preparation courses and practice tests. Their online course's for the SAT, ACT and PSAT feature a diagnostic tool that determines each user's strengths and weaknesses. Based on their results, the questions in the tests are tailored to focus on the material that requires the most improvement.

They also have practice tests for the TOEFL, and multiple subjects for the CLEP, SAT II, and AP, along with a corresponding book for each test.

Their graduate school test prep includes GRE and GMAT CAT (Computer Adaptive Tests) which feature a similar diagnostic tool. As well as book publications for the LSAT, MCAT and the Miller Analogies Test.

Civil Service and Military

Civil Service test prep study books include, publications for Case Worker Exam, Civil Service Exams, Firefighter Exam, Emergency Dispatcher/911 Operator Exam, EMT Basic Certification, Law Enforcement Exams, and the U S. Postal Service Test 470. These Peterson's book publications contain several practice tests and course outlines.

Peterson's has negotiated contracts with the US Military to offer individualized portals for enlisted Army, Navy and Air Force personnel. Online test prep is available for the ASVAB, as well as publications for the American Foreign Service Officer Exam.

Peterson's has a number of competitors:

The Princeton Review is Peterson's biggest competitor in the test preparation and K-12 education markets. Princeton Review offers many of the same offerings as Peterson's -- SAT, ACT, GRE, GMAT -- in a similar classroom format. Kaplan is the other dominant player in the test preparation industry. They additionally have an adult education focus to their business for adult certification and degree programs.
