Planck scale
Encyclopedia : P : PL : PLA : Planck scale
In particle physics, Planck scale is an energy scale around [1.22\times 10^] GeV (corresponding to the Planck mass) at which quantum effects of gravity become strong. At that scale, the description of particle interactions in terms of quantum field theory breaks down (due to non-renormalizability of gravity). For energies above the Planck scale, an exact theory of quantum gravity is required, and one candidate is string theory.
