Polecat is a name used to describe many things:
- Polecat is a term used in the common name of some species of weasel (e.g. European polecat, marbled polecat, steppe polecat).
- Polecat is a colloquial term used to refer to some members of the Mustelidae family, (e.g.skunk), that can spray a foul smelling secretion from enlarged anal glands when threatened.
- Polecat is also an archaic colloquial term for a lineman.
- The Polecats were a British new wave band of the early 1980s best known in the USA for the hit "Make a Circuit With Me."
- Polecat (band) was a band from Omaha, Nebraska on what is now called Saddle Creek Records
- In barbershop music, "a polecat" is one of a dozen classic barbershop songs which all members of the Barbershop Harmony Society are encouraged to learn as a universal, shared repertoire.
