Pop! Goes The Country

Encyclopedia : P : PO : POP : Pop! Goes The Country

Pop! Goes The Country was a 30 minute country music anthology program that was syndicated on American television from 1974 to 1983.

It featured established and up-and-coming country artists and was filmed at the Gaslight Theater at Opryland in Nashville.

"Pop! Goes The Country" was so named, as it offered some popular music artists on the show, in addition to country-western.

Originally hosted by Nashville disk jockey Ralph Emery, musician Tom T. Hall took over from 1980 to 1982 and comedian Jim Varney hosted the final year of the show.
