Post and Pair, a card game popular in the 16th and 17th centuries. A hand consisted of three cards, a pair royal ranking highest, or failing this, the highest pair. Another name of the game was Pink. Three card brag is a descendant of the game.
Possibly the name of an early version of poker in England.
