Psychic Friends Network

Encyclopedia : P : PS : PSY : Psychic Friends Network

The Psychic Friends Network was a telephone psychic service in the 1990s. Founded in 1990 by Linda Georgian, it is probably best known for its talk show-like, late night infomercials hosted by singer Dionne Warwick. It boasted a network of over 2000 alleged psychics and charged $3.99 per minute for each call. Reenactments of caller's stories were frequent, as were appearances by daytime soap opera stars. The parent company Inphomation took in profits of over $100 million within the first few years of the Network's operation. By 1998 however, profits had plummeted significantly, and the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, effectively closing the door on the Psychic Friends Network.

Spokesperson Dionne Warwick was often referred to as "Nostrildamus" (a portmanteau of nostril and Nostradamus) by numerous comedians and late night talk hosts, due to her large nostrils and affiliation with this venture.
