About

Punk 'n' Roll's main influence comes from both the New York Dolls and Iggy Pop & The Stooges. The New York Dolls gave Punk 'n' Roll its driving energry, while at the same time the noteable Stooges song, "Search & Destroy", set the standard for the Punk 'n' Roll sound. The Proto-Punk bands, such as The Stooges or England's Glory, that contributed can also be placed under the term of Punk 'n' Roll, as well as NYC Punk bands, such as The Dictators or Wayne County. But Hard Rock bands, especially AC/DC, have added inspiration for many Punk 'n' Roll bands. That inspired sound is best emulated by the band The Backstreet Girls, a Punk 'n' Roll band that began around the time of NYC Punk acts, 1977. But this Punk 'n' Roll sound began to shift over the years, showing the influence of American Oi! (Skinhead Rock 'n' Roll) and Streetpunk. One example of this is The Bodies, a Sonoma, CA, band who successfully mixes the two genres into one. The intense energy of Punk 'n' Roll has spurred a musical revolution that continues today, everchanging and bold.
