The <strong>QABL</strong> (Queensland Australian Basketball League) is a conference of the <a href="/term/Australian_Basketball_Association">Australian Basketball Association</a> (ABA). The QABL is broken into two divisions, the Sunstate Division and the Southern Cross Division. It is used as a development league for <a href="/term/Queensland">Queensland</a> teams competing in the <a href="/term/National_Basketball_League_(Australia)">NBL</a>.<p>

The league was formed in 1986 as the Queensland State Basketball League and in 1994 merged with the South and East conference of the <a href="/term/SEABL">SEABL</a> to form the North conference of the Continental Basketball Association. This was renamed the <a href="/term/Australian_Basketball_Association">Australian Basketball Association</a> in 2000 with the addition of the <a href="/term/Big_V">Big V</a>, <a href="/term/Central_Australian_Basketball_League">Central Australian Basketball League</a> and <a href="/term/Waratah_League">Waratah League</a>.   <p>
