What is QN5?

Formed May 5th, 1997 QN5 Music is a versatile independent music label focused on "The New Hip-Hop". QN5 features the artists Tonedeff, CunninLynguists , PackFM, Mecca, Session, Kynfolk & Extended F@mm. QN5 also has a production team of 5 musically diverse producers including: Domingo, Tonedeff, Deacon The Villain, Kno, and Elite. Known for determination to bring quality hip-hop to the mainstream, QN5 is hardly ready to settle with their 'off the radar exposure'. With mention in Rolling Stone, XXL, The Source, Scratch, Vibe and Elemental Magazine, QN5 is determined to have their innovative hip-hop be heard worldwide. Representing the qualities of birth, freshness, truth & purity; QN5 chose their color to be baby blue. QN5 brings to Hip-Hop music the qualities that baby blue represents. The label's official symbol, the ASTERISK ( * ) has 5 points and is star-shaped, denoting that there is always 'more' to what you initially see. Asterisk is also the title of QN5's mixtape series.

What does QN5 mean?

The idea behind QN5 is to always stay 5-Steps-Ahead-Of-The-Game. From the production to the lyricism to the artwork to the ideas...the QN5 ethic is reflected in the innovations they constantly aspire to achieve. QN5 stands for : Quintic Nickelism (to the 5th power).

The New Hip-Hop

:: The Five Tenets of 'The New Hip-Hop' ::

1) A commitment to quality over quantity.

2) An emphasis on self-reliance to succeed without piggy backing or forced collaborations.

3) A refocusing on the album in a singles driven mainstream market.

4) All releases should contain original production. (ie. No mixtape style beat-jacks).

5) A commitment to musical progression while maintaining the traditions of the art form.

Although these ideals allow for change and balance, they also maintain the integrity of hip-hop music. The artists and producers of QN5 are committed to upholding these tenets with solid releases.
