QRO

Encyclopedia : Q : QR : QRO : QRO

In the international Q code, QRO means "increase power level". The opposite of QRP.

In modern amateur radio use, QRO is synonymous with "high power". Many typical ham transmitters for high frequency use have 100 watts maximum output. Such power levels and above, up to the licence holder's allowed limit for the frequency band in question, may be called QRO operation. In the US, this maximum level may be 1.5 kilowatts, while in the UK, 400 W is a common licence limit.
