Encyclopedia : Q : QA : QAT : Qatran Tabrizi

Abu Mansur Qatran Adudi ( 1009 - 1072) was a royal Persian poet.

Originating from Shadi-abad near Tabriz, he was the most famous panegyrist of his time from Azarbaijan.

In his Persian divan of 3000 to 10000 couplets he praises some 30 patrons. His qasidehs on the earthjqauke of Tabriz in 1042CE has been much praised.

He is not to be confused with another Persian author: Qatran of Tirmidh, who wrote the Qaus-nama one hundred years later.
