Quandary Peak

Encyclopedia : Q : QU : QUA : Quandary Peak

Quandary Peak is the largest peak in the Tenmile Range with an elevation of 14,265 feet. It is also the 13th or 14th highest peak in Colorado, depending on how it is ranked. It has nearly the exact elevation of Castle Peak in the Elk Range to the west.

Quandary Peak is a popular fourteener to climb. This is because of the relatively easy ascent, as well as proximity to Denver and Breckenridge.

For the reasons listed above, Quandary Peak is popular with backcountry skiers and snowboarders. The gentle ascent makes for an easy climb from the east, and the other slopes of the peak are steep and appeal to expert backountry skiers.
