Queen Margaret University College (formerly Queen Margaret College) is a university college in Edinburgh, Scotland. It is named after Saint Margaret (1045-1093), wife of Malcolm Canmore, the Scottish king and was founded in 1875.
Even today, QMUC retains a disproportionate number of female students, and it was once a women-only college. It was initially set up to campaign for better education and improved career opportunities for females and to bring about an improvement in diets, particularly the diets of working class families. It now covers a range of subjects including consumer studies, business management, events management, retail business, marketing, hospitality management, tourism management, media, film & media, public relations, applied pharmacology, audiology, dietetics, human biology, nursing, nutrition, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, podiatry, diagnostic radiography, therapeutic radiography, speech & language therapy, psychology, sociology& culture, acting and performance, costume design & construction, drama & theatre arts, performance & production management, and theatre production.
It currently has three campuses across Edinburgh, however it's scheduled to relocate to a brand new purpose-built campus on the east side of Edinburgh in September 2007. [link].
