Quite Frankly with Stephen A. Smith is a television show on ESPN2 hosted by media personality, Philadelphia Inquirer columnist and ESPN NBA analyst, Stephen A. Smith. The show premiered on August 1, 2005 at its original time which was 6:30 PM ET. Now, the regular time slot is 11:00 PM ET, remaining on ESPN2, sometimes airing at 12:00 AM ET. It lasts one hour, and, on occasion, the previous night's episode will re-air the following afternoon.
The studio is at the Pennslyvania Hotel, across the street from the world famous Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York. Smith's signature line at the end of the show is, Remember, this is my house, but you're welcome any time."
Segments
The show has three different sections.
- Three and Out features Smith giving brief updates on three important developments in the sports world, assisted in some cases by sports reporters around the country brought in via satellite. Smith then delivers his opinions on the events or issues in question.
- Smith Interviews one or more sports figures on, in the case of a single guest, their careers, or, in the case of multiple guests, a hot topic in sports. Occasionally, members of
- Q&A, in which audience members ask Smith questions about anything and everything in sports.
- Stephen A. Says, in which Smith reviews a recent quotation from a sports figure or personality and offers his opinion, whether bad or good, on its merits.
- Screamin' At Stephen A. is when Smith responds to viewer emails and comments sent to him via the show's website.
New Time
In January of 2006, Quite Frankly was moved to a new 11:00 PM ET slot on ESPN2. Since its debut, the show has received a 0.1 household rating. Smith has stated that he hopes the time change will help improve his ratings.
