R. A. K. Mason

Ronald Allison Kells Mason (1905-1971) was described by Allen Curnow as New Zealand's 'first wholly original, unmistakably gifted poet'. He was born in Auckland and educated at Auckland Grammar School, where he met A. R. D. Fairburn. Most of his poetry was written before the age of 25 and he wrote no poetry after about 1940.
