Rabieh, Lebanon
Rabieh is a city in Lebanon, about 20 minutes driving distance from Beirut. It is located in the foothills of Mount Lebanon, on the road to Bikfaya. Rabieh saw it's population increase sharply in the late 1980's, following the Lebanese civil war. Many returning Lebanese Christians settled in this area of Mount Lebanon. In large part, these immigrants had left the homeland in the mid-1970's to escape the increasing ethnic tension that predominated Lebanese politics at the time, and which consequently resulted in the Lebanese civil war. Rabieh is, as well, the home of a few predominant Lebanese figures, such as Michel Aoun, Michel El-Murr and Karl Abou Mansour.
