Meaning
Shawn: Raccoo-oo-oon got its name from the spirit animal the Raccoo-oo-oon, a large often times white colored, shape changing ghost animal, of our favorite and most honored local suburban species the Raccoon. A true thief and prankster deity of the common raccoon a species that is a true survivor despite human ignorance towards the flora and fauna of our local timber and parries. There was a big ghost raccoon that would show up on the back porch and would end up slinking through the yard from time to time we had to honor it with our name. We wanted to be a musical body of noises that could change shape and thrive under any circumstances. The noises and sounds we focus in on for me personally have a lot to do with the timber and fields near to us and the spaces in our memories that relate to that. The big open farmland and the low marsh ground. We wanted to construct our own mythology that we could draw upon, nature punk's, forever travelers. Transcribing the Raccoo-oo-oon prophecy. The word of the parasitic vine and the shrines of moss and mud. Growing up in basements with punk rock hearts. The beat of the cosmic seed, music history going clear back before recording right up to pop. Maybe some emphasis on all that punk rock and psych rock stuff. http://www.digitalisindustries.com/foxyd/feature_detail.php?id=146Discography
