Ragnhild Lorentzen

Encyclopedia : R : RA : RAG : Ragnhild Lorentzen

Ragnhild Alexandra Lorentzen (born May 8, 1968) was born in Amparo Feminino Hospital in Rio de Janeiro, the youngest daughter of Princess Ragnhild of Norway and Erling Lorentzen. Her grandfather was the late King Olav V of Norway. Because of her lineage, she was 71st in the Line of succession to the British Throne.

In November 2003, at the age of thirty-five, she married the American Aron Long. Due to the provisions of the Act of Settlement, 1701, her marriage to her Catholic husband removed her from the Line of Succession to the British Throne and by extension, the Thrones of the other fifteen Commonwealth Realms. She currently lives in the United States, where she works in the hospitality industry.

In 2002, the Guardian newspaper attempted to get an interview with Queen Elizabeth II on the occasion of her Golden Jubilee. After being declined, the paper then attempted to interview the closest person possible in the line of succession to the Queen. After being turned down by the entire British Royal Family, and their closest descendants, the paper finally managed to interview Ragnhild, at that time 66th in the line of succession.
