Railways cricket team

Encyclopedia : R : RA : RAI : Railways cricket team

The Railways Cricket Team (also known as the Indian Railways) has been very successful in the Ranji Trophy in recent years, although they much of their history has been spent in unsuccessful endeavours to win the tournament.

Competition History

For most of its history, the Indian Railways has met little success in the Ranji Trophy and has largely been forgotten by Ranji Trophy enthusiasts. However, in recent years, they have been a steadily emerging team, having won the trophy twice and become runners-up once since the year 2000. They have been extremely successful in the Irani Trophy, backing up their two Ranji wins with two Irani victories, their most recent being against the likes of Gautam Gambhir, Suresh Raina, Venugopal Rao, Sreesanth, Rudra Pratap Singh and Parthiv Patel, all of whom have played international cricket for India.[link]
