Randy LaJoie from Norwalk, Connecticut was born August 28, 1961. He is a driver in the NASCAR Busch Series, where he was a two-time champion.
Early racing career
Randy started racing go-karts when he was 12 years old. In 1980 he began racing in full-bodied racecars. He was the 1981 track champion in the Modified Sportsman division at the Danbury Fair Racearena.NASCAR career
In 1983 he moved to the NASCAR Busch North Series, and he was the series Rookie of the Year. In 1985 he had 15 victories on his way to the series championship.He raced part-time in the Busch Series from 1986 to 1993. He generally fielded his owner car.
He began his first full season in the Busch Series in 1994. He finished sixteenth in the final points standings.
In 1995 he moved up to the Winston Cup series. He returned to the Busch Series near the middle of the season to drive for Dennis Shoemaker.
LaJoie was crowned the 1996 Busch Series champion. He had five wins and 20 Top 10 finishes.
LaJoie repeated at the 1997 Busch Series champion. He had five wins and 21 Top 10 finishes. He also won an International Race of Champions (IROC) race.
He finished fourth in the final points standings in 1998. He had one win.
From 1999 to 2002 he finished between seventh and twelfth in the final points standings. He raced full-time until the middle of the 2003 season. He raced part-time for the remainder of the 2003 season, and for all of the 2004 season.
In 2005 driving the #34 Chevy for Mach One Racing, he competed in 31 of 35 events , with three Top 10 finishes. He finished 19th in the final points standings.
He will race in selected events for Davis Motorsports. He has raced in one Busch Series event in 2006 (as of April 7, 2006).
