Ray Bradoc

Ray is an NPC in the game Breath of Fire II. He appears several times in the game to help you on your quest and is a high ranking member in St. Eva church.

Game Events

You first meet Ray in Coursair, where he heals Katt after your battle with her. He later appears in Capitan, where he is trying to save the villagers from monsters in the well. He will ask for your assistance and will reward you by teaching one of your party members Cure 2 or Renew, depending on how many villagers you saved (it is recommended that you teach it to Nina as she has more than enough AP to spare and learns no healing magic on her own, Katt and Ryu don't have much AP, and Bow and Rand will learn the spells naturally). From these events it appears that Ray is a definite ally, but when you make it to Farm Town he appears in a different light. When Rand's mother disappears, it is believed (and later proven) that St. Eva had something to do with it, and Ray was involved as well. When you make it to Evrai, Habaruku has Ray attack you. It is during this fight that Ray is revealed to be a Dragon Clan member like Ryu. Ray will unleash his strongest power, awakening Ryu's most powerful dragon form. Using this new power, the party defeats Ray. After the battle Ray tells Ryu that in order for him to awaken his new form, equal power had to be unleashed on him. He then states how he was an orphan, and that Haburuku found him and raised him, and that St. Eva was all he knew, though he knows that it was all a lie. With his final breath, he tells you that Daisy is being held in room above them and that they should hurry to save her. He was on the party's side throughout the game.
