Resident

Resident has a number of meanings:
- Resident, a person who has residency somewhere (as in inhabitant, whether as a citizen or not).
- Resident alien, a person who is living in a particular foreign country for an extended period of time under authority or color of law, as opposed to a tourist, who is visiting the country without the intent to establish a residence in that country. The Oxford English Dictionary also calls words of foreign origin "resident aliens".
- Resident (title), the title of a number of officials who represented their state with diplomatic status, with low rank in the West, or in a protectorate or colonial entity, represented, for example, British interests or managed British affairs in territories where Britain had great influence, but did not have sovereignty or practised indirect rule; a Resident-General was a colonial Resident with control over lesser Residents, or a Resident with a particularly important commission.
- Resident, the head of a KGB mission in a particular country, albeit usually officially assigned to a relatively subordinate diplomatic position.
- Resident (animal), a bird or animal that does not migrate, but stays in the same location throughout the year.
- Resident, holder of a medical residency, a physician or other medical professional in a United States hospital, who after completing a specified level of schooling and an internship receives specialized clinical training.
- The Residents, an avant garde music and visual arts group, active since the 1970s, known for being largely anonymous.
- Resident (Magazine), an Austrian drum and bass focused music magazine.
