Resident Evil (Wii)
Encyclopedia : R : RE : RES : Resident Evil (Wii)
Resident Evil Wii (working title), is an upcoming survival horror game being published and developed by Capcom. It is to be released for the Nintendo's Wii in North America, Japan, and Europe on a to be announced release date(s). According to EBgames.com product info, it has been listed for release on March 30, 2007. However, the date, along with other info from the page, is only "based on the best available information" which are subject to change. Capcom officially announced at E3 2006 that development was already underway for an exclusive Resident Evil game for Nintendo Wii and mentioned that it would take advantage of the console's unique controller, giving players a new experience in the series' franchise.
Details were vague at the announcement, but Capcom confirmed that it would be "a new game in the Resident Evil franchise" that will combine the series' trademarks along with "the revolutionary control system of the Wii." It should be noted, however, that this title should not be confused with Resident Evil 5 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 nor has it been stated to be a part of the main series. Capcom's official press release seems to indicate that it will be a brand new game and not a remake of a previously released game.[link]
It has been recently revealed in the September issue of UK Nintendo Magazine that Leon S. Kennedy will have something to do with the game. The issue features a teaser page with the words "Here's a clue" and a silhouette of Leon. [link]
Rumours
In addition to Leon Kennedy, the website revogamers.com has reported a rumor that Chris Redfield will also be featured in the game. His role in this game has yet to be determined, but it's possible that he could play the role of a playable character. This same source also claims that a portion of the game will take place in a destroyed Racoon City at some point. It is also said that the game will be built around a modified Resident Evil 4 engine, and will have the same controls as the previous game, while taking advantage of the Wii-remote's capabilities.
