Resource rent
Encyclopedia : R : RE : RES : Resource rent
Resource rent is an economic term of abnormal or supernormal profit which derives from the exploitation of natural resources.
There are two main reasons of the existence of resource rent: The scarcity of the natural resource and the possible impact exploitation will have on natural growth of the resource in future (biological resources). If the scarcity is not reflected in a market price as in a perfect market, resource rent may be obtained.
