Richard Kristian Gutiérrez (born January 21, 1984 in Los Angeles, California, USA) is one of the young actors in the Philippines. His Mulawin stint alongside Angel Locsin had started the whole telefantasy race. Aside from his modeling and acting careers, Richard is also busy with his hobbies. His interest in cars bore fruit in his latest venture, Events Management. Now, this child-star turned matinee idol is busy with “Mars Ravelo's Captain Barbell,” a superhero-action fantasy series aired in the Philippines via GMA Network, his mother station.
Richard is the son of a former Philippine cinema Matinee idol Eddie Gutiérrez and former actress turned talent manager Annabelle Rama. His sister, Ruffa Gutiérrez, was a former beauty queen and has not been active in showbiz since her marriage. His half-brother Ton-ton Gutiérrez is still active in showbiz and is one of the most favorite leading men for many known and popular actresses in showbiz. He has acted alongside Richard. Richard's other half-brother Ramon Christopher starred with him in Sugo. Richard started as a child actor alongside his twin brother Raymond. He has worked in many movies with his famous father, and their brothers. He laid low in showbiz while trying to finish his studies. After the rest, he went back into show business, and was paired with Chynna Ortaleza in different TV and movie projects. His team-up with Angel Locsin in the hit TV Series Mulawin catapulted both stars, making them two of the highest paid actors in the Philippines. Mulawin was followed by the movie "Let the love begin" that earned 100 million Pesos in the box office.
Relationships and controversy
He was the ex-boyfriend of Anne Curtis, who was the lead star of Kampanerang Kuba TV series in rival network ABS-CBN. The two had a video clip that shows torrid kissing scenes taken from Anne's cellphone that was forwarded through numerous MMS and e-mails. It was said that her cellular phone got lost and the next thing they knew was that the video clip was already in public. Richard is currently dating Georgina Wilson, a half -English half-Filipino commercial model who is also the niece of Gloria Diaz, Miss Universe of 1969.Controversy also struck when he and his friends assaulted 2 individuals. Richard and company were told of two unruly gate crashers so they made plans of dispatching them. Unfortunately, it was a case of mistaken identity and Richard and his friends beat up the wrong individuals. The following week, the victims were on the rival network and were threatening with legal action. Since Richard was one of the top talents on GMA, the network made the issue fade quickly as possible. Richard himself has not spoken on the issue until the pressure by legal action forced him to do so.
