Ringil is the name of a fictional sword from J. R. R. Tolkien's Middle-earth legendarium. Its name means "chill star" or "cold star" in Sindarin.
It was the sword of Fingolfin, and it glittered like ice. Fingolfin wounded Morgoth with this sword seven times in single combat after Dagor Bragollach.
Before his death, Fingolfin used it to stab the foot of the Dark Lord, forever maiming his walk.
